The Story of Dubai Tuskers

Dubai Tuskers Rugby Club was founded in 2023 by Dayan Diddeniya, a passionate Sri Lankan rugby player and alumnus, with a vision to create a competitive rugby team rooted in heritage, teamwork, and community pride.

From humble beginnings, the Tuskers have rapidly grown into a respected name in UAE rugby, built on leadership, commitment, and unity.

2023 – A Historic Debut

In our founding year, under the captaincy of Dayan Diddeniya, vice-captaincy of Arshad Jamaldeen, and the strong support of Team Manager Uthpala Ranathunga, Dubai Tuskers made history as the first-ever Sri Lankan alumni side to participate in the Gulf Men’s Social League at the Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens. The squad quickly made its mark, displaying determination, brotherhood, and heart.

2024 – Our First Trophy

In December 2024, under the captaincy of Dayan Diddeniya, vice-captaincy of Arshad Jamaldeen, and the strong support of Team Manager Uthpala Ranathunga, the Dubai Tuskers returned to the Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens with greater focus, belief, and team cohesion.

Emirates Dubai 7s Winning Squad 2024

Their determination and teamwork paid off as the Tuskers proudly lifted the Gulf Men’s Social Plate Final trophy — the club’s first-ever tournament victory, marking a major milestone in our growing legacy.

2025 – A New Chapter of Leadership for Dubai 7s

In 2025, the Tuskers enter an exciting new phase for the Dubai 7s tournament with a refreshed leadership group:
